Te Hono - The Gathering July 2020
Te Hono – The Gathering was staged in the Auckland Concert Chamber as part of the Matariki Festival. It offered audiences an immersive and informative storytelling experience, with digital, state-of-the-art projection mapping onto the Chamber’s ceiling and the outside of the Auckland Town Hall. Audiences connected with the words and stories that form our place, Tāmaki Makaurau, told by the people whose ancestors lived here.
Te Hono is a collaboration between Tamaki Makaurau Orators: Rewi Spraggon (Te Kawerau a Maki, Taiaha Hawke (Ngati Whatua Orakei) and Pita Turuei (Ngati Paoa), Inside Out Productions, and Perceptual Engineering. Live music from Rikki Bennett and Kingsley Melhuish completed the experience.
